Seminar "Cybersecurity in rail transport, requirements of the KSC Act, threats, challenges and the teams/organisations and their activities"

Association for Interoperability and Development of Rail Transport

Event description

For 20 years, on the eve of the TRAKO fair, the Association for Interoperability and Development of Rail Transport has organised a seminar included in the programme of the TRAKO International Railway Fair. This year we invite you to the seminar: "Cybersecurity in rail transport, requirements of the KSC Act, threats, challenges, and teams/organisations and their activities", which will take place on 22 September at the AmberExpo Conference Centre at ul. Żaglowa 11 in Gdansk.

In mid-2025, the provisions of the NIS2 Directive of the European Parliament and Council on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity were introduced into Polish law. In accordance with these provisions, railway infrastructure managers and carriers must take numerous measures necessary to ensure protection against cyber threats. In parallel with the transposition of NIS2 into the national law of individual Member States, the European Parliament adopted a Regulation on horizontal cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements, which applies to solutions used for rail purposes. This Regulation provides rail entities with a tool that nevertheless requires supplementing with rail-specific technical requirements. The seminar aims to summarise the state of clarification and implementation of these regulations in Poland, the most attacked country in cyberspace within the European Union.

Preliminary programme*

12:30-13:00 Registration of participants
13:00–18:00

  1. Overview of formal and technical documents defining cybersecurity requirements for rail transport
    Marek Pawlik
  2. Cybersecurity requirements for infrastructure managers and rail carriers – obligations, challenges, threats
  3. Cybersecurity requirements for manufacturers, contractors and installers of rail equipment and systems – obligations, challenges, threats
  4. Structural support – ISAC-Kolej, the industry CSIRT and national-level CSIRTs
  5. Building the key competences of rail entity employees using a cyber range
  6. ISAC-Kolej guidelines developed by the Railway Institute – mandatory and optional safeguards and confirming the state of protection against attacks of various kinds

"High Speed Railway Poland 2025" Conference (TRAKO edition)

Stowarzyszenie Inżynierów i Techników Komunikacji RP and Fundacja ProKolej

Event description

The "High Speed Railways" conference, scheduled for 23 September 2025 together with Stowarzyszenie Inżynierów i Techników Komunikacji RP, will address the topic of high-speed rail and its development in Poland. The event will present the latest technologies related to high-speed rail in Europe and worldwide, development potential, and opportunities for implementing new technologies in cooperation with domestic rolling stock manufacturers. Overall, the event provides a focused summary and continuation of the discussion launched during the two-day international conference "High Speed Railway Poland", held in October 2024 in Łódź. The event will feature an international debate, forming part of a wider promotion of the High Speed Rail construction programme in Poland. It is also an opportunity to present practical experience from similar projects carried out on European and global rail markets, where high-speed rail (HSR) has been built and successfully operated for many years. The event has been planned as bilingual, i.e. in Polish and English, with live simultaneous interpretation.

Debate "The role of transport and logistics in the new geopolitical environment – a debate among leading women in Polish logistics"

Izba Gospodarcza Transportu Lądowego, Centrum Unijnych Projektów Transportowych

Event description

The role of transport and logistics in the new geopolitical environment – a debate among leading women in Polish logistics

Issues for discussion:

  • vision for the development of intermodal transport and support priorities in the next financial perspective after 2027. Will there be demand for grant-based funding of intermodal transport in the next EU financial perspective?
  • priorities for intermodal transport in view of EU enlargement (Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and North Macedonia, followed by Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina)
  • challenges in the transport process – technology, regulations, logistics. Identifying and analysing barriers/problems in the transport process
  • increasing the competitiveness of intermodal transport in Poland – what influences this, and what changes should be introduced?
  • the impact of the war on the logistics market; is the eastern direction lost forever (or for the foreseeable future), and what can replace it?
  • the effects of the US elections on the logistics market; is US economic isolationism merely campaign rhetoric, or does the European economy genuinely need to pivot towards industrial development, where logistics and transport play a key role? In such a situation, what are the key needs, and, no less importantly, what can the TSL sector offer in terms of business and organisational innovation to boost industrial acceleration?
  • problems facing the logistics sector and strategies for solving them
  • the role of logistics in pursuing carbon neutrality
