During this year's TRAKO International Railway Fair, participants and guests will be able to take advantage of a unique attraction – free rides on historic trams, provided courtesy of Gdańskie Autobusy i Tramwaje.
The route will feature two historic vehicles that constitute an important element of the heritage of public transport in Gdańsk:
Konstal N (1952)
After the war's destruction, it was necessary to quickly restart tram production. Following the design of the German KSW tram, production of trailer cars began in 1948, and a year later, power cars were delivered. The tram on display at TRAKO was manufactured in 1952 in Chorzów. It served as a regular tram in Gdańsk until the late 1970s.
Bergmann (1927)
In 1927, the Gdańsk Wagon Factory (Danziger Waggon Fabrik, later Northern Shipyard) produced 24 railcars for the new line to Stogi. These vehicles remained in service until the early 1970s. One of these, decommissioned in 1973, was restored and restored to its historic appearance. In February 2025, a thorough renovation was completed, restoring it to its former glory. Today, it is one of the greatest attractions of the historic rail journeys.
Thanks to this initiative, fair participants will have a unique opportunity to travel back in time and see what public transport in Gdańsk looked like almost a hundred years ago.
