The Sejm recognized the role of the Polish railways – one of the most important modes of transport and a symbol of modernity. For years, railways have united the country's regions, enabling economic development and cultural exchange.
The Sejm emphasized the important role of the railway both during World War II and after the war, in the times of the Polish People's Republic, when its employees "played an important role in the resistance movement against the communist authorities."
“Appreciating the enormous contribution of the Polish State Railways and its employees – both former and current – to building and strengthening Polish statehood, shaping the ethos of service to Poland, as well as working for the development of modern public transport, on the centenary of the establishment of the Polish State Railways enterprise, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland establishes 2026 as the Year of the Polish Railways,” the resolution states.
423 MPs voted in favour of the resolution.
